Position Description

The Columbia University Department of Epidemiology at the Mailman School of Public Health is recruiting faculty at all ranks and tracks and in all substantive areas relevant to epidemiology. We are especially interested in candidates who conduct intervention research, clinical epidemiology, and cutting-edge substantive and methodological research. Candidates who come from backgrounds that are under-represented in the field of epidemiology and who bring fresh perspectives to their research, teaching, and service are encouraged to apply. Positions are tenured, tenure track, or non-tenure track, commensurate with career stage and level of achievement. Candidates will demonstrate creativity and originality and be able to lead and/or collaborate with multidisciplinary scientific teams and produce new connections, knowledge, and impact within and beyond those in the department, the school, and Columbia University. Successful candidates must demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring a wide range of students from NYC and around the world. The Columbia Department of Epidemiology is a community of collaborative scientists with dynamic research, service and teaching strengths in a variety of key areas; see: https://www.publichealth.columbia.edu/become-student/departments/epidemiology/research. We are seeking to further strengthen our research portfolio especially in new and innovative aspects of epidemiology and epidemiologic methods.

Qualifications: Doctoral degree in epidemiology or related field (PhD, ScD, DrPH, MD with MS or MPH or research fellowship) required with postdoctoral training or experience preferred. Experience in teaching and mentoring and an established record, or clear future promise, of leading extramurally funded research projects are essential, as is a clear description of the impact that a candidate’s research, teaching, and service will have on the public’s health.
