The laboratory of Dr. Matthias Wieland within the Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences at Cornell University, College of Veterinary Medicine, is seeking Postdoctoral Associate candidates. The goal of our research is the optimization of dry-off strategies in dairy cows. In this applied program, we aim to support the science-based development and on-farm implementation of innovative management approaches with emphasis on practices that improve udder health, antimicrobial stewardship, and animal well-being during the dry period. The candidate will design and implement research projects related to optimizing dry-off management on dairy farms and contribute to the development of best dairy cattle management practices. The candidate will design, coordinate, and perform field studies, prepare manuscripts for high-impact scientific journals, and will have opportunities to present and publish scholarly work at local, national, and international venues.
Postdoctoral Associates receive competitive salaries according to the Cornell University Postdoctoral Associate stipend system. Start date is negotiable; the position has a duration of one-year with options for renewal. Position expected start date in June 2026.
The successful candidate will have expertise in the data sciences with software programming skills in SAS, JMP, R Statistical Software, or others and a strong publication record. A post-graduate degree (PhD, DVM or equivalent) in veterinary, animal, or the biological science is desired but not required. The position will require some work with cattle at the dairy units of Cornell University and commercial dairy farms in the upstate New York region. Ideally, the candidate feels comfortable conducting basic handling work with large animals in a dairy farm setting. The ideal candidate will enjoy working and communicating with a multi-disciplinary team of academics, clinical experts, and students at Cornell University, and will have opportunities to present and publish scholarly work at local, national, and international venues.
Salary will be commensurate with credentials and
experience.
Pay
Range:
$62,232.00-80,000.00 depending on qualifications and experience.

Pay Ranges:
The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:
- Prior relevant work or industry experience.
- Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.
- Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)
- Unique applicable skills.
