Position Description
Description: The Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies at Duke University invites applications for a part-time Japanese Program Instructional Staff position to assist the Japanese teaching faculty. Requirements: 1. Native or near-native fluency in all modalities of Japanese (reading, writing, listening, and speaking). 2. A Master’s degree or higher. Duties and Responsibilities: The successful applicant will be responsible for the following duties: grading and recording for Elementary/Intermediate Japanese courses; providing instructional assistance for all language courses (i.e. individual sessions, tutoring, etc.); assisting and attending events/activities for the Japanese language program, such as the weekly Japanese conversation table, the annual Duke Japanese speech contest, and the end-of-the-year party for students. The candidate will also perform administrative work related to the program, as needed. Position begins September 1, 2025. Applicants should submit the following items: 1, A cover letter 2.
