Position Description

The Kiehart lab in the Biology Department at Duke University is looking to hire a post-baccalaureate Associate in Research prior to the continuation of their studies in medical or graduate school (a one, preferably two year research commitment). You will have an opportunity to hone your theoretical and practical skills in Genetics, Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Biophysics and/or Optics. Our recent papers include undergraduate and/or postbac contributors, and we have an excellent record of placing alums in various programs for higher degrees. We focus on the molecular and biomechanical mechanisms of cell sheet morphogenesis during dorsal closure in the model system, Drosophila melanogaster (reviewed in Kiehart et al. 2017 Ann. Rev. Cell Dev. Biol. 33:169). A Bachelor’s degree (pending or completed) is required for this position.
