Position Description

The Postdoctoral Researcher will design and implement computational models, analyze results, and contribute to the development of interdisciplinary research projects integrating computational and experimental neuroscience. Projects will be developed in collaboration with the principal investigator and lab members. The candidate will receive guidance from the principal investigator while maintaining a high degree of independence. Contributions are expected to lead to authorship in resulting publications.

The research project focuses on uncovering the mechanisms underlying the initiation of spontaneous network activity during neurodevelopment using Drosophila melanogaster as a model system. This project combines computational modeling with experimental data and involves the following approaches:

· Computational modeling of neural circuits using simulation frameworks

· Analysis of neural activity data from live imaging experiments

· Integration of experimental and computational datasets

· Collaboration with experimentalists using imaging, optogenetics, and fly genetics

The predicted time allocation is:

· Designing and implementing computational models (50%): This includes developing and simulating neural network models, parameter tuning, and documenting model architecture and results.

· Analyzing and interpreting data (30%): The candidate will analyze simulation outputs and experimental datasets, perform quantitative analyses, and generate visualizations to support conclusions.

· Collaboration and lab contributions (20%): This includes working closely with experimental lab members, mentoring trainees, contributing to manuscript preparation, and supporting the development of new research directions.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates interested in bridging computational and experimental neuroscience and contributing to high-impact research in neurodevelopment. The position offers strong potential for publication and career development. Initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding availability. This position requires a PhD.
