Description 

Dr. Michael Tomasello is currently seeking a part-time Associate in Research to begin in June 2025. The Tomasello lab conducts research on how young children develop cognitive and social skills. This position would be an excellent fit for an individual who recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree and is interested in continuing their research skills and analytical prowess. Applicants should also have a specialized interest in children’s promise-keeping and be prepared to work on projects associated with children’s perceptions of promises and how task formats influence children’s likelihood to commit to a task. The Associate in Research will help manage laboratory activities and conduct research on young children’s understanding of linguistic framing. Tasks include but are not limited to: 
• running participant sessions in person at the lab, local children’s museums, and preschools 
• scheduling & recruiting participants 
• cleaning & analyzing data 
• assisting in general lab tasks 
• researching children’s promise-keeping through in-person testing 

This position is a short-term contract for summer 2025. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, cognitive science, or a related discipline 
• Skills in programs related to data analysis (e.g., R) and surveys (e.g., Qualtrics) 
• Experience working with young children 
• Proficiency in using RPAD 
• At least 4 years of experience conducting developmental psychology research 
• Extremely knowledgeable in children’s promise-keeping and commitment research
