Associate in Research 
Diversity and Social Processes (DaSP) Lab at Duke / Dr. Maureen Craig 
Department of Psychology & Neuroscience 

Overview 

Dr. Maureen Craig is currently seeking a full-time Associate in Research to begin in August 2025. The Diversity and Social Processes lab conducts research seeking to understand how people perceive and navigate a diverse and often inequitable social landscape. The Associate in Research will work closely with Dr. Craig to manage and coordinate lab research. This position would be an excellent fit for an individual with research interests in intergroup relations or political psychology looking to strengthen their research skills before applying to graduate school in psychology.

The Associate in Research will manage laboratory activities, such as: 

• planning research events & meetings 
• scheduling & recruiting participants 
• maintaining the lab website 
• interviewing, training, & supervising research assistants 
• assisting in managing grants & IRB protocols 
• preparing stimuli & programming experimental tasks 
• cleaning & analyzing data 
• supporting open science practices 
• collaborating with other researchers on community outreach & disseminating findings 

In addition, the Associate in Research will have opportunities to develop their own independent research project, contribute to ongoing collaborative lab projects, and attend or present at scientific meetings. They will also have the opportunity to participate in the broader intellectual community at Duke and the Research Triangle more broadly. 

This is a full time position, eligible for all Duke benefits (https://hr.duke.edu/benefits), with an initial appointment of one year with the possibility of renewal, dependent on funding and performance. 

The anticipated start date is early August 2025 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, cognitive science, or a related discipline 
• Skills in proactively managing teams of undergraduate research assistants working on multiple research projects 
• Experience with data analysis programs (e.g., R, SPSS, Stata), particularly using scripts or syntax for data analysis, and experimental design programs (e.g., Qualtrics) 
• Experience/interest in open science practices (e.g., drafting preregistrations, creating reproducible analysis scripts) 
• Experience/interest in working with diverse populations 
• Previous experience conducting psychological research is highly desired (ideally experience with independent research, such as an honor’s thesis) 
• The ideal candidate would be extremely conscientious, self-motivated, and highly organized, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
