Multi-lab Outreach Coordinator / Duke Child Studies
Department of Psychology and Neuroscience

We are seeking to hire an Associate in Research as an outreach coordinator for multiple labs within Duke Child Studies in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience. This position would spearhead a multi-lab interdisciplinary recruitment program by helping expand and improve recruitment for Duke Child Studies and the Research Pool at Duke (RPAD).  

This is an ideal position for a recent graduate with a degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related field, who has experience working with individuals of all ages and also enjoys making community partnerships and working with a variety of faculty, staff, and students. 

This is a full time position, eligible for all Duke benefits (https://hr.duke.edu/benefits) with an initial appointment of one year with the possibility of renewal, dependent on the pending timeline for achieving goals below and funding availability. 

The anticipated start date is summer 2025. 

Primary duties for this position include: 

1. New IRB Protocols:

a. Work with faculty in Duke’s Psychology & Neuroscience department to establish IRB protocols that permit recruitment through hospitals affiliated with Duke

b. Streamline existing IRBs to refer to RPAD protocol

c. Amend new RPAD protocol to meet various lab needs 

2. In-Person & Online Recruitment:

a. Explore preschools, daycare, community events, and organizations to recruit infants, children, and elderly participants for the RPAD database

b. Particularly hoping to help recruit diverse populations

c. Explore possibilities for distributing flyers, ads, message boards, etc., in the Durham and greater area, in hard copy and digitally

 N.B. This duty requires access to reliable transportation in order to assist in off-site recruitment events in the Triangle (Durham/Chapel Hill/Raleigh) area.

3. Documentation Creation and Liaison with Existing Systems

a. Serve as a liaison across labs using RPAD to ensure lab staff concerns are relayed to Duke Arts & Sciences (Trinity) technical support

b. Serve as a liaison to P&N staff to streamline the birth-record recruitment process

c. Help create digital documental, FAQs, and Wiki for labs and staff to rely on for the recruitment process

d. Prepare and update reports on the success of various recruitment methods

e. Coordinate recruitment events across lab teams

Preferred Qualifications:
