The Salter Psychology of Anti-Racism and Culture Lab (SPARCL) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate position in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Duke University. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability in writing research papers, experience with both quantitative and qualitative research methods, excellent communication/time management skills, and an interest in mentoring junior scholars. A Ph.D. in psychology or a related field is required by the start date.
Position Details:
SPARCL, directed by Dr. Phia Salter, is a new lab in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Duke University. This position will be in-person (Durham, NC, USA) and is open to domestic and international applicants.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis starting June 12, 2025, and will remain open until filled.
This is a full-time position, eligible for all Duke benefits (https://hr.duke.edu/benefits) with an initial appointment of one year with the possibility of renewal, dependent on funding and performance. The anticipated start date is August 2025.
Job Description: The Postdoctoral Associate will work closely with Dr. Salter (PI) and be involved in all aspects of the research process. Research conducted within SPARCL will focus on the bi-directional relationships between collective memory, identity, and systemic racism. Experience and interest in working with underrepresented communities and/or conducting field research will be viewed favorably. Potential intersections with Dr. Salter’s existing research program will also be a plus.
Responsibilities include: (1) Conducting research using cultural-psychological and/or critical race theoretical perspectives in collaboration with SPARCL; (2) publishing and presenting research in scientific journals and conferences; (3) contributing to the preparation of research/grant proposals; and (4) co-mentoring junior colleagues and students.
