Department of Risk Management and Insurance J. Mack Robinson College of Business GEORGIA STATE UNIVERSITY

Candidates are sought for appointment as an Academic Professional in Robinson’s nationally ranked Department of Risk Management and Insurance to assist the Department Chair as Director of External Relations and Recruiting (DER) for the Department. This position will report to the Chair and will oversee the many outreach initiatives of the Department. The Director of External Relations and Recruiting (DER) will engage with prospective RMI students to build the pipeline of future students (e.g., presentations to classes, student groups, and other student-facing events). The DER will connect RMI students with industry partners through curricular and co-curricular opportunities (e.g., schedule industry speakers, manage student involvement in case competitions, conferences, and events) as well as internships and full-time employment. The DER will also prospect, develop, manage, and grow revenue-generating relationships between RMI and industry partners (e.g., "Sprints", sponsored research, sponsored case competitions, executive education).

JOB QUALIFICATIONS This is an ideal opportunity for someone with an interest in pursuing teaching related to risk management, insurance, and/or legal studies alongside engagement with students outside the classroom and with partners from the insurance industry. Candidates must have a relevant terminal degree, significant management and business development experience within one or more of the industries for which risk management and/or insurance expertise is a critical capability, and successful teaching experience. THE ENVIRONMENT The mission of the Department of Risk Management and Insurance at Georgia State University is to better understand how risks faced by individuals, institutions, and societies can be more accurately measured and more efficiently managed. Faculty members have risk-related research interests including behavioral economics, experimental methods, actuarial science, mathematical finance, econometrics, household finance, corporate decision-making, legal risk, and insurance economics, among others. The department is one of the oldest and most influential risk management programs in the U.S. and has a distinguished history of serving students, alumni, and the risk management profession for more than 60 years. The department enjoys strong support from, and collaboration with, industry partners in risk-related industries in the Atlanta area, nationally, and internationally, and is committed to exploring the role of data analysis and new technology in shaping the pricing, processes, and products in risk-related markets in its research and teaching.

The Department of Risk Management and Insurance offers undergraduate degrees in Actuarial Science as well as Risk Management and Insurance; masters degrees in Actuarial Science as well as Quantitative Risk Analysis and Management (QRAM); and, a Ph.D. program. We are currently ranked #4 in the U.S. News and World Report ranking of RMI programs and ranked #2 in actuarial science research among all North American business schools. The department is the home for the Center for the Economic Analysis of Risk (CEAR).
