The Department of History and the Africana Studies Program at Lehigh University welcome applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with expertise in African American history. This position carries a 2/2 teaching load. Chronological and thematic research fields are open. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in History, Africana Studies, or a closely related field; advanced ABD candidates will also be considered. This is a joint appointment in History and Africana Studies. Examples of the kinds of courses this person might teach are transnational histories, African American women’s history, theories of race and racism, and/or Black radical thought. In addition to participating in the instruction and advising of undergraduate students in these fields, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to a vibrant Ph.D. program in the History Department. The successful candidate should be prepared to teach the Intro to Africana Studies course as well as courses across the full range of African American history.
