Position Description

Position: Bernard L. and Bertha F. Cohen Chair in International Relations LEHIGH UNIVERSITY.

The Department of International Relations invites applications for a tenured Full Professor to fill the Bernard L. and Bertha F. Cohen Chair, with an anticipated start date of July 2025. The position is open to all research and teaching specializations within the fields of international relations, foreign policy, and/or comparative politics.

 Candidates must have an earned PhD in International Relations or a closely related field. The ideal candidate will have connections to the policy community in Washington, DC and/or New York City and be able to assist students with internship placement. 

 Candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and excellence in research. The individual hired will, specifically, be expected to teach courses in International Relations at the undergraduate level, engage in scholarly activities, and participate in departmental, college, and university service, as well as advise undergraduate internships. 

 Lehigh is among the few higher educational institutions in the US that has long had a separate department of IR. This allows students with a particular interest in international affairs to benefit from a concentrated, high-level program of study that few other schools offer.
