Macalester faculty teach five semester course sections per year (typically two to three distinct courses), supervise senior capstone presentations and honors theses, advise students in their curricular and career choices, maintain an active scholarly agenda, and engage in pedagogical, curricular, and extracurricular departmental activities. During their first year of the appointment, new faculty teach four course sections (typically two distinct courses) and attend a weekly new faculty development seminar.

Describe your experience in and vision regarding teaching, advising, and mentorship of students of multiple and diverse backgrounds with attention to students who experience structural barriers and limited access to educational opportunities.
   
5. research statement: a statement of your contributions to the scholarly field and future research goals. Highlight professional engagement in the field through journal publications, conference presentations, and/or software development. Describe your current and immediate future publishable research projects. The strongest candidates will have enthusiasm and a feasible plan for incorporating undergraduate students in their future research.
   
6. a cover letter (2-3 pages, no more than three pages) that provides an executive summary of your:
   a. specific interest in joining the MSCS Department at Macalester College;
   b. training and experience in Statistics, particularly if you do not have a Ph.D. in Statistics or Biostatistics;
   c. experience in and vision for diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in teaching, scholarship, service, and/or community engagement;
   d. experience in and vision for teaching undergraduate students; include experience using inclusive pedagogy, active and innovative teaching strategies, and assessment of learning outcomes as applicable; and
   e. contributions to the scholarly field and future research goals.
