Position Description:

The Department of Physics at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking to fill three postdoctoral positions: one in multimessenger astrophysics, one in very-high-energy (VHE) gamma rays, and one in ultra-high-energy (UHE) neutrinos. The successful candidates will work with the Astrophysical Multimessenger Observatory Network (AMON), the High Altitude Water Cherenkov (HAWC) group, and the new Giant Radio Array for Neutrino Detection (GRAND) group, respectively.

Details about each group/experiment can be found at http://www.amon.psu.edu for AMON, at http://sites.psu.edu/HAWC/ for HAWC, and at http://grand.cnrs.fr for GRAND.

Requirements include a recent Ph.D. in physics or astrophysics. Experience in multimessenger astrophysics, VHE gamma-ray, radio detection, particle counters, and/or neutrino astrophysics will be advantageous.

Applications must be submitted electronically and include a cover letter, CV and statement of research interests. Applicants should arrange for three reference letters to be submitted to physicsapply@psu.edu indicating the appropriate job number (83274 for AMON, 83276 for HAWC, and 83275 for GRAND, respectively) in the subject line. These are fixed-term appointments funded for one year from date of hire. Based on mutual satisfaction and continued funding, the possibilities for extensions exist for a maximum of two additional years. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until a suitable candidate is found. Informal inquiries about this post may be made to: miguel@psu.edu.
