Position Description

University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Physics and Astronomy invites applications for a postdoctoral research position to work on the ATLAS Experiment.

The successful candidate is expected to play a leading role in the data analysis of precision top quark measurements as well as Higgs-related topics. We are active in the operations and the HLLHC upgrade of the trigger systems in firmware algorithm development and simulation. We are also active in R&D using AI in custom electronics as well as in distributed computing. The Pitt ATLAS Group is led by Professors Joe Boudreau, Jim Mueller, and Tae Min Hong. Pitt High Energy Physics is part of a vibrant community—experimentalists in high-PT, neutrino, and heavy favor physics and theorists working in LHC phenomenology—in PITTsburgh Particle Physics, Astrophysics, and Cosmology Center (PITT PACC), https://www.physicsandastronomy.pitt.edu/pittpacc.

Position Details:

This position is housed within the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pittsburgh. Benefits include health / dental / vision coverage as well as optional access to other university benefits. The ideal start date is May, but the exact date is negotiable.

Applicants should have a PhD in experimental particle physics by the time of appointment. At a minimum, applicants should have successfully defended their PhD by the start of the appointment, and conferral of the PhD will be required by the end of the term in which they are appointed.
