Pitzer College invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Critical Global Studies beginning in Fall 2027. Critical Global Studies has a strong commitment to social justice, especially in addressing power inequalities. We seek candidates whose research and teaching in global studies decenter both the nation state and western epistemologies. Areas of special interest include global inequalities, migration and refugee studies, peace and conflict studies, and human rights, with a focus on the global south. The successful candidate will become a member of the interdisciplinary Critical Global Studies (CGS) field group at Pitzer and will collaborate with colleagues in other field groups that cross-list courses with CGS. The successful candidate will teach five courses annually, including introductory methods and theory courses in Critical Global Studies. A Ph.D. in Global Studies or a related field, such as Anthropology, Political Studies, or History, is required at the time of appointment. The initial appointment will be at the assistant professor rank.
