The Department of Politics at Pomona College invites applications for an Assistant Professor in American Politics beginning Fall 2027. We are seeking candidates with expertise in Race and Ethnic Politics (REP) with a preference for candidates whose research and teaching interests complement those of the current faculty or who can contribute to expanding the curriculum. The successful candidate will regularly teach Introduction to American Politics and additional courses of their own design in their fields of expertise. We are especially looking for candidates who wish to advise and mentor undergraduates and whose teaching demonstrates commitment to inclusive excellence. The teaching load is two courses per semester, and professors are expected to maintain an active research program as well as participate in department and faculty governance. Pomona College is in Claremont, which is located east of Los Angeles and is accessible to the region’s major cities. QUALIFICATIONS: PhD in Political Science. The salary range for this position is $105,000-$125,000. Tenure-track faculty also receive a full year pre-tenure paid sabbatical.
