University of Copenhagen, Niels Bohr Institute
High Energy Physics / Neutrino physics and Astrophysics
Description
Expressions of interest are invited for three-year Postdoctoral Fellowships in Particle Astrophysics and Multi-messenger Astrophysics to be held within the Particle Astrophysics Group led by Prof. Tamborra at the Niels Bohr International Academy (NBIA). The appointment is expected to begin in fall 2027, but other starting dates can be negotiated.
We seek highly motivated, outstanding individuals who will develop research programs in particle astrophysics, nuclear astrophysics, transient astrophysics, and/or multi-messenger astrophysics. Expertise in neutrino transport, particle acceleration in astrophysical sources, modeling of multi-messenger emission from cosmic sources, (magneto)hydrodynamics, nucleosynthesis, and/or high-performance computing will be considered valuable assets.
The Particle Astrophysics group has exclusive access to some of the largest dedicated astrophysics computing resources in Scandinavia, including a general-purpose high-performance computing cluster.
NBIA is an international center for fundamental research in theoretical physics at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen. NBIA provides an open intellectual environment where researchers exchange ideas across (particle) astrophysics, gravitational physics, high-energy particle physics, quantum sciences, and biophysics. NBIA members also interact and collaborate with the larger community of scientists in Copenhagen, including DARK, DAWN, StarPlan, and the Center of Gravity.
Postdoctoral Fellows at the Niels Bohr Institute receive a competitive salary (including pension) and funds for travel. Generous parental leave, state-subsidised childcare, vacation, and access to public healthcare are provided to employees in Denmark. A favorable tax scheme is generally granted to international researchers.
The University of Copenhagen wishes to reflect the diversity of society and welcomes applications from all qualified candidates regardless of personal background. The primary criterion for the evaluation of candidates is the excellence of their research.
