INTRODUCTION

The Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program at the University of Connecticut invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor during the 2023-2024 academic year. The successful candidate will be able to teach a range of undergraduate courses, including those focused on gender and violence, gender and globalization, and the politics of reproduction, in both large lecture and seminar settings. This is a one-year, nine-month, non-tenure track appointment with teaching responsibilities. Responsibilities may include undergraduate advising and service to the unit and/or campus through participation in committee work.

Housed in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program is a multidisciplinary research and teaching program committed to transforming scholarship in existing academic disciplines by incorporating the study, contributions, and feminist analysis of gender and sexuality. To that end, the program is invested in new approaches to interdisciplinary feminist teaching and engaged in intersectional work that advances the understanding of the construction, reproduction, and resistance to inequality. Established in 1974, the program is among the most established in New England, and its faculty are nationally known and internationally recognized.

Founded in 1881, UConn is a Land Grant and Sea Grant institution and member of the Space Grant Consortium. This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track position with an anticipated start date of August 23, 2023. The successful candidate's primary academic appointment will be at the Storrs campus.
