The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs of the Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing (The School) is a full time, 12-month position which is accountable to the Dean of the School. The Associate Dean provides leadership and vision in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the pre-licensure program (Graduate Entry Pathway-GEP) and will have primary responsibility for all operations relative to instruction, student affairs, and overall recruitment efforts across all programs. Activities and responsibilities within these programs include the academic catalogue, accommodations, and support for coordination for critical school-wide committees and new program initiatives. The position manages the day-to-day operations related to academics and student affairs to ensure that our learners will have a positive experience. A percentage of the role associated with Associate Dean for Academic Affairs will be teaching in the PhD program. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs will serve as the senior Dean in the absence of the Dean. 

RESPONSIBLE TO: Dean, Graduate School of Nursing 

1. Licensure or eligible for licensure as RN in Massachusetts. 
2. Graduate degree in nursing. 
3. Doctorate in nursing or a related field. 
4. A minimum of 5 years of successful administrative experience in an academic setting 
5. Experience as an educator and scholar with graduate nursing programs 
6. Active in professional service. 
7. Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing desired 

  1. Collaborates with Associate Deans and Directors to facilitate excellence in faculty teaching and scholarship, serving as the authority on all aspects related to the academic mission. In addition, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs works in partnership other Associate Deans to improve various educational programs and ensure high standards of performance and maintenance of accreditation. 
  2. Participate with other campus academic officers in the development of university-wide academic priorities and goals and in the implementation of interprofessional programs to achieve defined outcomes. 
  3. Works closely with the Office of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management to maintain databases for the academic programs. 
  4. Collaborate with other programs in the School to ensure articulation between curricula. 
  5. Serves on the Academic Accommodation Committee (AAC) for all three schools. 
  6. Responsible for preparing and submitting all external academic reports and surveys. 
  7. Responsible for all academic documents and processes including the School’s Catalog. 
  8. Participates in recruitment and retention of qualified and diverse faculty and students. 
  9. Oversees maintenance of approval and accreditation of academic programs. 
  10. Oversees Continuing Education for the School.
