Assistant Professor - Quantum Materials & Information About UMass Amherst UMass Amherst, the Commonwealth's flagship campus, is a nationally ranked public research university offering a full range of undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees. The University sits on nearly 1,450-acres in the scenic Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts, and offers a rich cultural environment in a bucolic setting close to major urban centers. Job Description The Physics Department of the University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in experimental quantum information and quantum materials. We seek candidates with outstanding research and a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring. The new faculty member will join an active experimental and theoretical group and will complement existing strengths in superconducting circuits, quantum simulation, non-equilibrium quantum dynamics, quantum error correction, low-dimensional materials, topological phases, and precision many-body physics. The new member will also join a campus-wide initiative in quantum information systems and materials. Further information about the Department's theoretical and experimental efforts can be found at http://www.physics.umass.edu/. Requirements Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Physics or a related field with relevant post-doctoral experience.
