Position Title: Postdoctoral researcher
Position Type:Postdoctoral
Position Location:Helsinki, Southern Finland 00014, Finland [map]
Subject Area: Cosmology/Particle Astrophysics

Position Description:

*** this position has been closed, and no new applications will be accepted. ***

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in numerical simulations related to the physics of the early universe, to be hosted by the Helsinki Institute of Physics (HIP) at the University of Helsinki. The appointment would be for two years, with substantial travel funding provided.

The post will be funded by David Weir’s University Three-year Research Project, "Gravitational wave cosmology for LISA". The project is concerned with improving the predictions for first-order phase transitions that may be detected by the LISA mission, both through real-time simulations of the phase transition itself and through improved nonperturbative lattice studies of the underlying BSM theories.

The ideal candidate will have strong numerical skills and a collaborative approach to research, willing to take responsibility for group activities.

You will be joining HIP, a physics research institute that combines particle physics and cosmology, co-located with the Department of Physics at the University of Helsinki; for more information please visit http://www.hip.fi.

Candidates from under-represented backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.

Please submit a short research statement, CV and list of publications through AcademicJobsOnline. Please also arrange for at least two letters of recommendation to be provided. Complete applications received on or before 1.1.2018 will receive full consideration.
