Position Description:    

The SMU high-energy group invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position working on the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider.

The SMU ATLAS group consists of five faculty members, one senior scientist and five graduate students. The members of the group contributed to the design and construction of the Liquid Argon Calorimeter and worked on various aspects of the Trigger/Data Acquisition system. The group has a strong involvement in the detector operations and in both Phase I and Phase II upgrades and covers a wide range of physics topics including Higgs boson studies and searches for new phenomena.

The successful applicant should expect to be involved in the continuation of the Liquid Argon Calorimeter operations and upgrades and to take a leading role in precision measurements of Higgs properties and in searches for new physics. The position may be based either at SMU or at CERN with temporary stays in either of the two locations as necessary.

Candidates must have a PhD in experimental high-energy physics by the appointment start date and should submit a brief statement of interest, a CV, and arrange for at least three reference letters.
