The Duke Center for Material Genomics is looking for a research professor in computational materials science - high performance computing specialist. The successful candidate needs to be proficient in design, deployment and security of domain specific languages or metalanguages with respect to providing introspection, analytics and dissemination of large scale materials genomics data descriptors as derived from high throughput quantum simulations and directed to and designed for both human consumption as well as novel machine learning applications. The candidate must have proven solid experience in communication with and collaboration on international projects with both academic and industrial partners. Experience in initiating, directing and assessing research projects with peers at all levels is very important. Further, the candidate must be able to demonstrate an innate knowledge of network protocols, data security practices, large scale data curation, quantum/classical material physics, density functional theory, algorithms, data structures, data serialization, systems architecture and fault tolerance in both theory and practice. Additionally an awareness of stateless protocol and practice is highly encouraged.

Skill Required Programming proficiency in, but not limited to C, C++, Fortran, Javascript, Python, PHP and SQL. Experience in construction maintenance and security of relational and non-relational databases, eg. MariaDB, SQLite and Mongo. Familiarity with data serialization in JSON, XML et al.

Fundamental knowledge in data security, both at rest and in transit.

Knowledge of web transport protocols, web security mechanisms and web services; especially with respect to efficiency and optimization in the context of REST and CRUD in API or service deployment
