The School of City and Regional Planning ( at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with core research and teaching interests in urban spatial analytics and data science. Candidates are expected to show promise in leading strong research programs in their areas of expertise demonstrated through scholarly recognition from peers and funding agencies. Candidates are also expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students. There is a possibility of a joint appointment with Georgia Tech’s School of Interactive Computing (, which is ranked among the top ten Computer Science departments in the nation, for candidates whose expertise bridges both schools. 

The School of City and Regional Planning is a global leader in fostering sustainable, resilient and just communities. Faculty include the most recent-past editors of the Journal of Planning Education and Research; two former presidents of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning; and six Fellows of the American Institute of Certified Planners. School research is augmented by the Center for Spatial Planning Analytics and Visualization, the Center for Quality Growth and Regional Development, the Sino-US Eco-Urban Lab, the Urban Climate Lab, the Healthy Places Lab and the Local and Regional Economic Development Lab. Besides two masters’ degrees in City and Regional Planning and GIS, respectively, and a Ph.D. program, the School also offers joint degree programs with Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Public Policy, and Law (Georgia State University). The School is also in the process of developing an interdisciplinary program in urban analytics in partnership with schools of Industrial and Systems Engineering and Interactive Computing at Georgia Tech.
