The Department of Physics and Astronomy of the Johns Hopkins University invites applications for multiple postdoctoral appointments in observational and/or theoretical astrophysics. Specifically, positions will be available to work with:

Nadia Zakamska, on projects in extragalactic astronomy, including but not limited to: active galaxies and quasars, their feedback, integral field unit galaxy surveys at low and high redshifts, and development of analysis tools for an approved Early Data Release James Webb Space Telescope program covering these scientific topics.

Julian Krolik, on numerical simulation of relativistic accretion and its associated radiation and jets: merging neutron stars, binary supermassive black holes, tidal disruptions, etc.

Kevin Schlaufman, on joint kinematics and high-resolution abundance analyses of extremely metal-poor stars in the bulge and halo, explorations of the star-planet connection using data from TESS and Gaia, or other outstanding opportunities in exoplanets, planet formation, metal-poor stars, or Milky Way formation.

Johns Hopkins University is involved in SDSS IV, Pan-STARRS, the Subaru PFS Survey, WFIRST, Euclid, and LSST. The Center for Astrophysical Sciences benefits from close interactions with the adjacent Space Telescope Science Institute and has a lively group of postdoctoral fellows who are actively involved in the life of the department.
