The MIT Institute for Foundations of Data Science (MIFODS) funded by the National Science Foundation TRIPODS program, is announcing a competitive postdoctoral fellowship. MIFODS is an interdisciplinary entity across the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab (CSAIL), and the Institute for Data Systems and Society (IDSS) at MIT. It provides a structured environment for exploring interdisciplinary research spanning Mathematics, Statistics, and Theoretical Computer Science.

Qualified candidates will have interest in the aforementioned three areas, with expertise in at least one of them. Duties include performing independent, interdisciplinary research in collaboration with any of the MIFODS members, as well as leading activities within MIFODS.

This fellowship is a one-year appointment beginning on July 2019 or a later mutually agreed upon date. Upon satisfactory performance, it can be extended by securing other sources of funding, which could be supplied by individual MIFODS PIs, or via other postdoctoral positions available at MIT. In particular, we encourage interested candidates to apply for the following positions:

Job requirements:

•       Ph.D. (expected or obtained) in Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Operations

Research, Economics, Mathematics or a related field;

•       Strong analytical and written communication skills,

•       Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary environment and

•       Commitment to participating in MIFODS activities.
