The Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures at The Ohio State University invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor in Yiddish Studies, beginning August 2019. While area of specialization is open, we are seeking a dynamic scholar of Yiddish who can contribute to department strengths in any of the following areas: film, folklore, gender, linguistics, literature, migration studies, translation, theory or thought. Qualified applicants must have classroom teaching experience and hold a PhD in Yiddish Studies or related discipline prior to the appointment start date. The successful candidate will teach four courses each year in Yiddish Studies - in translation and in Yiddish - and will work to reinvigorate the Yiddish program at Ohio State. This is a 3-year appointment, subject to a successful first year review, with the possibility for renewal.
