Position Description: Benedictine University Department of Nutrition invites applications for a professional faculty appointment as an Assistant Professor, starting August 2019. Applicant will oversee the BS in Nutrition and Allied Health and the BA in Health Education and Promotion.



·        Teaching, as outlined in the Faculty Handbook. The normal load would be four courses per term, including such topics as Human Nutrition, Food Science, Community Health and Nutrition, Nutritional Aspects of Disease, and Nutritional Biochemistry.  Other courses based on areas of practice expertise.

·        Food Lab Coordinator.

·        Participate in advising, mentoring, and recruitment of undergraduate students.

·        As a member of the faculty, participate in department meetings, curricular development and ongoing program review.

·        Hire and supervise adjunct faculty



Minimum Qualifications:

·        Earned graduate degree in Nutrition or a closely related field with at 18 or more graduate credit hours in nutrition.

·        Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist by CDR.

·        At least three years of professional work experience in medical nutrition-related settings or Community Nutrition or Health Education.

·        Demonstrated ability of effective teaching.

·        Demonstrated ability to utilize technology and online delivery methods.



Preferred qualifications:

·        Managerial and/or leadership experience.

·        Strong written and verbal communication skills.

·        Ability to interact successfully and work harmoniously with colleagues and students in a diverse community.
