The UMMS School of Medicine invites applications for an experienced, strategic individual to serve as its Associate Dean for Continuing Medical Education (ADCME). The ADCME (0.25 FTE) has an overall responsibility for the day-to-day direction and management of the Office for CME. Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean for Educational Affairs, the ADCME is responsible for working with faculty throughout the health system and across the region in creating and delivering educational programming. The ADCME will work to develop and implement a comprehensive strategic business plan that will increase revenue and provide a vehicle to promote lifelong learning through the provision of educational experiences for physicians and other health professionals.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Provide strong strategic and operational leadership for the CME program;

· Supervise CME office employees through its established reporting processes;

· Maintain knowledge concerning CME practices and standards;

· Represent the CME office with senior leaders from UMass Medical School and UMass Memorial Healthcare

· Assure there are effective office processes that fulfill the accreditation requirements of the American Council of Continuing Medical Education (ACCME);

· Oversee the periodic accreditation review by the ACCME;

· Periodically review and update the CME Policy and Procedure Manual;

· Review and sign all requests for regularly scheduled series (RSS);

· Review and sign all joint CME program requests;

· Develop relationships with educational leaders to provide innovative CME programs;

· Assume primary responsibility for the implementation of the annual UMass Medical School Primary Care Days Conference;

· Participate in the development of the CME office budget;

· Lead periodic meetings with the CME Advisory Council

Minimum Education

· Terminal Degree, MD preferred

Qualifications and related experience

· Minimum of five years CME experience

· Progressive responsibility in an Academic Health Center

· Excellent organizational and management skills with a demonstrated ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams

· Experience in setting and achieving strategic objectives

· Strong interpersonal, supervisory and leadership skills

· Ability to interact with a variety of constituencies both on and off campus

· Fiscal savvy and demonstrated sales ability

· Understanding the use of technology and the capacity to engage in technical discussions

· Strong customer service orientation

· Exceptional planning, problem-solving, motivational and analytical skills
