The Duke University - Center for Materials Genomics - seeks for an Assistant Research Professor to perform computational studies in materials. The candidate must have extensive experience in using and interpreting the results of first-principles electronic and thermodynamic structure calculations for a variety of materials systems, including structural, vibrational, and electronic properties. Must have experience in developing and programming methods to map first-principles results onto a tight-binding basis set and onto atomistic potentials in order to increase the size of the systems that can be studied. A PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or Electrical Engineering is required. Knowledge of programming in Fortran, C++ and UNIX (Linux) is essential. The applicant should also have demonstrated the ability to help managing large groups and a proven track record of proposal preparation.
