Position:   Assistant Professor of Latinx Political Economy
Effective Date:      August 17, 2020 (Fall Semester)
Salary Range:   Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Required Qualifications:   
• Ph.D. in Chicana/o Studies, Latina/o Studies, Political Science or related fields and a specialization in Political Economy and Latina/o Studies from an accredited institution
• Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2020
• Evidence of or potential for effective teaching at the undergraduate level
• Evidence of or potential for academic scholarship and/or creative activity leading to publication
• Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population

Preferred Qualifications:
• Teaching and research that examines the intersection of  local, regional, and global political-economic processes with racial and other social formations that produce Latinx poverty and wealth; Latinx transnational labor migration; Latinx informal economies; and Latinx labor market exclusion
• Capacity to teach interdisciplinary introductory and upper-division courses in Chicana/o and Latina/o Studies and Political Science
• Experience in teaching Chicanx and Latinx Studies content courses
• Success in mentoring students outside the classroom
• Success in working with and advising student organizations
• Success in collaborating with community-based and social justice organizations
• Demonstrated interest and/or history in mentoring Latinx and other underrepresented students in and out of the classroom through such high-impact practices as service learning, internships, education abroad, faculty-supported applied or action research, or other student development activities

• Teaching, research, scholarship and/or creative activity, and service to the University, profession and to the community
• Advising students
• Teaching existing courses in the curriculum, as well as developing new courses
• Develop and promote interdisciplinary scholarship that links our classrooms to local Latinx urban communities and movements 
• Participation in campus and system-wide committees, working collaboratively and productively with colleagues
