The Triangle Universities Nuclear Laboratory (TUNL) and the Department of Physics at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina seek a Postdoctoral Associate with strong interest and experience in experimental nuclear structure and nuclear reaction studies using gamma-ray and neutron beams. The accelerator facilities at TUNL for general research include the High-Intensity Gamma-ray Source (HIGS) and a tandem van de Graaff accelerator. This position is funded by grants from the Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security Domestic Nuclear Defense Office. The research associated with the position will be carried out at HIGS using gamma-ray beams and in the tandem laboratory using fast neutron beams. Candidates for this position are expected to have experience with experiment techniques and methods used in low-energy nuclear physics research, e.g., gamma-ray spectroscopy, charged-particle detection and energy measurements, neutron time-of-flight, experiment simulation software, detector signal processing, data acquisition electronics and data analysis.

A Ph.D. degree in physics and experience in experimental nuclear physics research are required for this position.
