The Chemistry Department at the College of Saint Benedict (CSB) and Saint John's University (SJU) invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position to begin in August 2020.

Departmental Information: The chemistry faculty form a collaborative and diverse department that provides opportunities for peer mentoring and cross-disciplinary research activities. Classroom sizes are typically 25 to 30 students at the foundation level and smaller at the in-depth level; laboratory sections are smaller than 15 students. Approximately 40 chemistry and biochemistry majors graduate annually from a highly innovative laboratory and classroom curriculum.

Responsibilities: •Teach in the Structure and Reactivity Curriculum (https://www.csbsju.edu/chemistry/our-curriculum) integrating aspects of organic, inorganic, and biochemistry •Teach in-depth courses such as metabolomics, proteomics, biological macromolecules, or signal transduction •Engage with colleagues in sustaining summer and academic-year research opportunities for undergraduates •Advise students •Engage in department and committee service

Qualifications: The successful candidate must have a PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a closely related field and demonstrate: •An ability to become an effective teacher in the classroom, using evidence-based approaches and inclusive practices •A willingness to teach in tandem with others in a multi-section setting •Strong skills in the instructional laboratory, which may include biochemical, benchtop purification, and spectroscopic techniques •The potential to develop an externally-funded research program and mentoring plan for research •A commitment to becoming an engaged faculty member on a liberal arts campus
