Associate In Research 

The Sanford School  of Public Policy seeks a half-time research associate to do statistical analysis using administrative data in the North Carolina Education Research Data Center. The work requires working with large data sets related to K-12 schools in North Carolina, helping to prepare data and estimate models for a variety of research papers, and interacting with a team of researchers in the Sanford School. Knowledge of statistics and experience working with STATA required; experience using large data sets and strong analytical skills in economics or other social science discipline highly desirable.  

Responsibilities
  • Creating and organizing protocols for collecting information about the dimensions of social policy reviewing publicly available documents, data bases and state manuals.  
  • Creating and organizing protocols and subsequently collecting information on practices and online experiences of clients.
  •  General research assistance tasks related to literature review and write-up, gathering of background information 
Qualifications: 
  • BA, BS, Masters or comparable degree in social sciences, preferably in economics, sociology, or public policy 
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills; high level of attention to detail
  • Basic knowledge and comfort with tabling statistics, and APA format used in applied social science research
Projected Start Date:  This position is available immediately.  Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

Work Schedule: Regular 20 hour a week work schedule, with days and hours to be set upon employment.
