The Georgia Institute of Technology’s College of Design invites applications for one or more positions as Professor of the Practice in the Master of Real Estate Development program. This program is a collaborative effort across the Schools of Architecture, Building Construction, and City and Regional Planning in the College. The intention of the College is to engage distinguished practitioners with a record of national leadership and excellence in real estate development to teach real estate development finance, policy, law, markets, and/or business management in the College. Prior teaching experience is desirable, but not required. Of paramount importance is the candidate’s involvement and thought leadership that has advanced the profession of real estate development. 

The successful applicant will be appointed as a non-tenured rank Professor of the Practice in the School of Building Construction. The terms of residency and length of appointment of one to three years are negotiable. Responsibilities include teaching real estate development classes in an evening format at the graduate level to a student group that averages 3-5 years of experience in real estate development and/or associated professions. The professor will have access to the full resources of the College of Design. The College of Design’s five Schools and five research centers provide a rich multi-disciplinary creative environment with access to both the technological resources of a top research institution and the opportunities and challenges of Atlanta. Candidates must have a Master’s or equivalent degree, and a 10 -15 year distinguished record of professional practice in real estate development and/or closely related disciplines, and a national reputation for excellence. Teaching experience at the collegiate level is desirable. It is imperative the applicant has experience in the delivery of income producing and for sale real estate development projects.

Salary is dependent upon the candidate’s qualifications and will be consistent with similar positions at peer universities.

The College of Design consists of five schools: Architecture, Building Construction, City and Regional Planning, Industrial Design, and Music. The College offers Bachelor of Science, Bachelor, Masters, and PhD degrees in various disciplines. The College of Design currently enrolls approximately 500 undergraduate students, and over 500 graduate students, and has 58 tenured and tenure-track faculty, The Master of Real Estate Development is multidisciplinary across Architecture, Building Construction, and City and Regional Planning. The degree is housed within the School of Building Construction.
