Position:                 Assistant Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (Aerospace Systems Design)
Effective Date:       August 17, 2020 (Fall Semester)
Salary Range:        Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Required Qualifications:   
Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or closely related discipline. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2020. Specialization in Aerospace Systems Design, including, but not limited to: aerodynamics and CFD; aircraft and rocket propulsion; aircraft and spacecraft control; astrodynamics and space mission analysis; and aerospace structures and materials.  Demonstrated commitment to be an effective teacher at the undergraduate and graduate level. Demonstrated potential for record of research, scholarly and creative activities. Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population
Preferred Qualifications: 
Experience in or potential to teach courses in the area of Aerospace Systems Design, undergraduate and graduate-level courses. Demonstrated ability to develop courses, laboratories, and academic programs; update curriculum; and supervise student theses and projects. Active participation in academic governance. A record of academic publication and research activity commensurate in one of more of the emerging areas of aerospace engineering, with application to the design of aircraft, unmanned aerial systems, satellites, launch vehicles, and/or space missions. Demonstrated success or history of effort to obtain external funding for research. Commitment to actively support the success of underrepresented groups in STEM fields.

Teach introductory and area of expertise-related subjects at undergraduate and graduate levels in, or related to, Aerospace Systems Design, as well as undergraduate fundamental courses in aerospace engineering, as needed by the Department. Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum development and program assessment. Maintain an active research program involving students and leading to peer-reviewed publications and professional presentations. Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research. Actively pursue external support for research through grants and contracts. Participate in service to the department, college, university, profession, and community.
