The Department of Computer Science at Georgia State University (GSU) seeks applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level to begin in August 2020. The new faculty will contribute to vibrant research growth in Data Science (including data mining, machine learning, information retrieval, cybersecurity, privacy, big data, data visualization, computer vision and natural language processing). The department is experiencing unprecedented growth in its degree programs and is building innovative interdisciplinary research in data science with partners across the university.

The Department of Computer Science’s Ph.D. program is nationally competitive and ranks among the best in the Southeast according to National Research Council data. Faculty have research strengths in data science, informatics, and cybersecurity. The M.S. program has over 100 students with a recently introduced Security and Privacy concentration. This year the department started offering new M.S. in Data Science and Analytics and will launch a B.S. degree in Data Science in Fall 2020. The B.S. program is the second largest in the university with over 1,800 majors. In addition, the department has established local industry partnerships that provide internships and foster innovative approaches to learning for GSU students. Computer Science seeks high-energy scholars with a commitment to undergraduate/graduate computer science education, strong potential for securing external funding, and interest in collaborative and interdisciplinary research.
