Chapman University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Environmental Science and Policy, an interdisciplinary program that draws from expertise in both the Schmid College of Science and Technology and the Wilkinson College of Art, Humanities and Social Sciences.  This faculty position beginning in August 2020, represents a joint appointment in both Schmid and Wilkinson Colleges.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. in a relevant field in the natural or social sciences (or related area) by the position start date is required.

We seek candidates with an active research program in areas including but not limited to: 

  • Climate issues
  • Environmental health
  • Environmental justice
  • Sustainability governance
  • Urban planning
  • Water policy

We value candidates who can identify avenues for collaboration both within and outside of the institution.  

Responsibilities

Tenure track faculty are expected to develop and maintain an active research agenda for future tenure consideration and are evaluated on their research/scholarly activity, teaching and service.

The successful candidate is expected to lead a rigorous research program, which will include securing extramural funding, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and incorporating undergraduate students in research.  Teaching responsibilities will support the B.S. degree in Environmental Science & Policy and also include courses based on the candidate’s field of expertise. Service to both Schmid and Wilkinson Colleges is also expected of the successful candidate.
