The Theory of Quantum Matter Unit (TQM) at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) is seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Scholar.

The TQM Unit carries research in the broad area of condensed matter theory, making use of both numerical and analytic techniques. Themes currently represented include, topological aspects of magnetism, quantum spin liquids, statistical mechanics, machine learning, unconventional magnetic excitations, multipolar order and the physics of water.  However application from strong candidates with complementary interests are equally welcome.  The group also maintains strong links with experimental groups developing and studying new quantum materials. Postdocs in the TQM Unit are expected to engage in creative, curiosity-driven research, and are encouraged to develop their own independent interests, as well as collaborating with existing group members.

Postdoctoral positions will normally be held for a period of three years, and are paid on a competitive scale, with additional benefits including health insurance, access to on-site child care, support for relocation and a housing allowance. Start dates are negotiable.
