Position Description:    

The Department of Psychological Sciences in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Connecticut invites applications for an Associate Professor, tenure-track, at the Stamford Campus to begin in the Fall of 2020.

The Department of Psychological Sciences, consistent with the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and the entire UConn community, has an overriding commitment to diversity as a core value and basic tenet. The successful candidate will show evidence of a robust research program.  The Stamford campus and its surrounding area offer unique opportunities for research in multiple areas, including field research and/or collaborative research with businesses and community organizations.  Candidates with a background in clinical, community, environmental, health, industrial-organizational, or social psychology are especially encouraged to apply. Faculty at the Stamford campus join one of the graduate programs at the Storrs campus, https://grad.psych.uconn.edu/prospective/phd/overview/, but their research, teaching, and service centers around the Stamford campus.

Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate the existence of an active research program in their area of expertise, a track record (or promise) of obtaining external research support, and a commitment to excellence in teaching. This position includes the teaching of research methods as well as other undergraduate courses in an area of specialization.  Teaching introductory psychology is also desirable.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must have a Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related field and at least 5 years’ experience in an academic setting. Must demonstrate a vibrant research program. Must have a record of publication and evidence of (or promise of) obtaining external research support. Must have a record of excellent teaching and a commitment to mentoring and advising undergraduate students.  Must be able to teach research methods.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Possess the ability to contribute through research, teaching, and/or public engagement to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience. Be able to use the unique resources of the UConn Stamford location to maintain an energetic research program.  Have some post-graduate experience. Have past or current external funding. 

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This appointment is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position with an anticipated start date of August 23, 2020. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
