Position Description:    

The Stanford Physics Department invites applications for a Lecturer position to begin in Autumn quarter 2020. This position is a full-time, twelve-month, fixed-term, benefits-eligible appointment. The initial appointment period is 2 years. Future reappointments are possible, with the first reappointment review occurring in the second year. The duties involve teaching introductory physics courses during the academic year and the summer quarter, usually in partnership with a faculty member, and assisting the department in a major restructuring of the introductory physics courses, both in terms of the course sequences offered and the curriculum and pedagogy of the courses. The Lecturer should be knowledgeable in curriculum and course design, as well as in evaluating the success of new offerings, and able to work collaboratively with faculty in the course restructuring process. A Ph.D. is required. In addition to instruction, the candidate will be responsible for mentoring course teaching assistants, advising students, and participating in Department committees, as appropriate.
