Position Description: |
The Joint Quantum Institute (JQI) is searching for a new faculty member and JQI fellow to conduct research in experimental quantum physics. The JQI is located at the University of Maryland in College Park and its scientific mission is to study coherent quantum phenomena (http://jqi.umd.edu/). There are currently 35 JQI Fellows, including theorists and experimentalists, working at the intersection of Atomic physics, Condensed Matter Physics and Quantum Information. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to conduct independent research, strong communication skills and potential for leadership within the quantum research community. We expect that successful candidates will build an independent research group that complements and strengthens the experimental and theoretical research of the Joint Quantum Institute. The preferred starting date for the position is August of 2020. Minimum requirements: A Ph.D. in physics or a physics-related discipline and independent research experience in coherent quantum phenomena. Interested candidates should upload: (1) a cover letter, (2) a CV, (3) a statement of research interests and plans, and (4) arrange for four letters of recommendation to be uploaded through Academic Jobs Online ( https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/15281). For best consideration, applications should be received by December 15, 2019. The Joint Quantum Institute is committed to diversity and equality and we strongly encourage applications from women and members of groups otherwise traditionally underrepresented in science.
