Position Description:

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Southern California (USC) invites applications for a postdoctoral position in theoretical cosmology, with a start date in the fall of 2020 or before.

We seek a highly motivated applicant who has obtained, or is about to obtain, a Ph.D. in physics, astrophysics, or a related field. Research experience at the intersection of fundamental theory and cosmological data analysis, and familiarity with numerical simulations, inference, forward modeling, or astroparticle physics is highly valued, though not required. The successful applicant will work in collaboration with Prof. Vera Gluscevic and will have opportunities to engage with the Simons Observatory and CMB-S4 collaborations, and to collaborate with scientists at Carnegie Observatories in Pasadena and with other groups at USC. The postdoctoral researcher will have access to computational resources via the Center for High-Performance Computing at USC (https://hpcc.usc.edu/).

The duration of the postdoctoral appointment is up to three years, with renewable one-year terms, based on satisfactory performance. A competitive salary, funds for research and travel, and a benefits package will be provided. For full consideration, applications must be submitted to academicjobsonline.org by December 15, 2019, and include a cover letter, research statement summarizing the applicant's ongoing research and future interests, a CV with a current list of publications, and three reference letters. Applications will be reviewed beginning December 15, 2019, and the position will remain open until filled. For more information, please contact Prof. Vera Gluscevic at vera.gluscevic@usc.edu.
