The Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of Connecticut (UConn) seeks to fill a full-time faculty position at the Avery Point campus in Groton, Connecticut. This position is for a non-tenure track “In-Residence” faculty, which may lead to long-term multi-year contracts.

The Department of Psychological Sciences, consistent with the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and the entire UConn community, has an overriding commitment to diversity as a core value and basic tenet. The regional campus at Avery Point offers all the benefits of a prestigious public research university in a small, liberal arts college setting. In addition to excellent faculty who offer a broad undergraduate liberal arts curriculum, Avery Point provides specialized programs that take advantage of our waterfront location.  On campus partners such as the Connecticut Institute for Resilience and Climate Adaptation, Connecticut Sea Grant and the Mystic Aquarium make available opportunities for collaboration both in and out of the classroom.

The successful candidate will teach seven undergraduate courses per academic year. One class may be replaced through administrative responsibilities.  Of particular interest are candidates with a background in cognition, perception, physiology, neurobiology, language, environmental, or other natural science areas. 


Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Psychology or related field conferred by August 23, 2020, a commitment to excellence in teaching, and experience mentoring undergraduate students.


Preferred qualifications include the ability to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience, background in research methods, teaching expertise that complements that of current faculty, evidence of an interest in continuing previous research activity, and an interest in marine and maritime-oriented undergraduate curricula.


This a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track position at the Avery Point Campus that may lead to long-term multi-year contracts. This position has an anticipated start date of August 23, 2020. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
