Position Description:

The T-2 group (Nuclear and Particle Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology) in the Theoretical Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) invites applications for several postdoctoral positions in nuclear theory to begin as early as Summer 2020. Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in nuclear physics or a closely related field by the beginning of the postdoctoral appointment (but no earlier than 2014 per LANL policy).

Our group conducts research on a broad set of topics in theoretical nuclear physics including the modeling of nuclear structure, nuclear reactions, nuclear fission, applied nuclear physics, nuclear data evaluations and nuclear astrophysics. LANL scientists in the T-2 group working in these areas include Gerry Hale, Michael Herman, Toshihiko Kawano, Amy Lovell, Matthew Mumpower, Mark Paris and Ionel Stetcu. We collaborate actively with our colleagues throughout the laboratory and have close ties with ongoing collaborations in applied nuclear data, astrophysics and experimental physics.

This position provides an excellent opportunity for an early career scientist to develop an independent research program. Candidates with expertise in any of the aforementioned areas are strongly encouraged to apply. Exceptionally well qualified candidates may be considered for a Director's Postdoctoral Fellowship or Distinguished (Feynman/Oppenheimer) Postdoctoral Fellowship.

Los Alamos is an equal opportunity employer. Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply. Interested applicants should submit their application materials (CV, research statement, and list of publications) on academicjobsonline.org and arrange to have at least three letters of recommendation uploaded on their behalf.

Applications should be submitted by March 1, 2020, for full consideration.

For eligibility and salary information, please see LANL Postdoc Eligibility and LANL Postdoctoral Salary Guidelines.
