*** The account for Cosmic Rays and Chronology Departament, Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP) has expired and new applications are no longer accepted. ***

The Neutrino Physics and Astrophysics Group (GEFAN) at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) is seeking a candidate for two postdoctoral positions. The candidates may preferably have experience in the following fields:

Data analysis and MC simulation; Liquid argon technology for neutrino physics; Scintillation light detection and collection in liquid argon.

The work of the experimental neutrino group is focused on the light collection system for the DUNE far detector and it has many commitments in its design, test, and construction. The successful candidate will be initially involved in the R&D for the ARAPUCA device, a novel technology for liquid argon scintillation light detection which has been designed and developed at UNICAMP and which is a candidate for the light detection system of the DUNE far detector. Good knowledge of the GEANT 4 and LArSoft packages is desirable. The GEFAN group and the Laboratorio de Leptons have six researchers working on the neutrino physics: Ettore Segreto, Ana Machado, Orlando Peres, Marcelo Guzzo, Pedro de Holanda, and Ernesto Kemp, and several Master and Ph.D. students. The University of Campinas (UNICAMP) is a public university in the State of São Paulo. It is one of the top-ranking Brazilian universities as well as in Latin America. The fellowship is provided by the Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP) which is public funding located in São Paulo, Brazil. The FAPESP postdoctoral fellowship is tax-free with an annual value of R$ 88,477 Brazilian reais (at the current rate, 1 US dollar is approximately 4.51 Brazilian Reais). Moving and installation expenses will be reimbursed, including the airfare and one additional monthly fellowship for installation. Family members are also covered by airfares costs. The fellowship includes a grant for travel and research expenses of R$ 12,274 Brazilian Reais per year. The fellowship is for one year, with the possibility of extension depending on mutual interest. The starting date of the fellowship is August 1, 2021, however, earlier appointments are VERY welcome. Depending on mutual agreement, the fellowship can be spent in an institution outside Brazil. Interested candidates should send their CV with a list of publications, research proposal and 3 letters of reference addressed to Prof. E. Segreto using the AcademicJobs service. The deadline for application is 7st of February of 2020 and the evaluation of application starts afterward, though late applications will be considered until the position is filled.
