The Photonics Initiative at ASRC invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank. The successful candidate will perform teaching, research and guidance duties in areas of expertise, and share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.


The Graduate Center is the focal point for advanced teaching and research at The City University of New York (CUNY), the nation's largest urban public university. At the center’s core is a world-class facility designed to inspire an innovative approach to the scientific method itself, one that links a new wave of talented scientists with hundreds of top researchers from CUNY campuses across the city. The ASRC focuses CUNY research initiatives in five of the most energized areas of global research: Nanoscience. Photonics. Structural Biology. Neuroscience. Environmental Sciences.

The Photonics Initiative at ASRC invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank. We seek an outstanding scientist with strong records of significant research accomplishments in the fields of: nanophotonics, plasmonics, nano-optics, quantum optics, optomechanics, terahertz technology, ultrafast spectroscopy, nonlinear optics, electromagnetic theory and applications, metamaterials, bio- photonics, and other fields broadly related to photonics and electromagnetics.


A preferred candidate should have a Ph.D. degree in a photonics related area, demonstrated achievements in research scholarship, and a commitment to conducting high-level scientific research adopting interdisciplinary approaches. We encourage applications from candidates with innovative ideas, open to interdisciplinary approaches and with a demonstrated use of a wide range of experimental, theoretical and computational approaches to tackle fundamental questions in photonics. Individuals considered for these positions are expected to serve a major role in shaping an outstanding research mission at the ASRC, while fulfilling the educational mission of the New York City Public University System at CUNY.
