Position is located in Ithaca, NY, within the ILR School on the campus of Cornell University.

The School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University has an immediate opening for a Senior Extension / Extension Associate – Senior Data / Data Associate in the K. Lisa Yang and Hock E. Tan Institute on Employment and Disability in the Extension/Outreach Division.

The Senior Extension / Extension Associate is responsible for extension programming and administration within one or more thematic areas.  This position is responsible for developing and delivering programs and services, as well as, independently designing, developing and delivering research and related services that are closely aligned with the strategic mission and core values of the ILR School. The position will report to the Program Director and will annually set individual programmatic and budgetary goals.

Senior Extension / Extension Associate is a non-tenure track, academic term position with a three year initial appointment.  The position may be reappointed on the basis of recommendations by the appropriate Executive Director, Director and Associate Dean as well as available funding and work.  Position rank will be determined by qualifications and experience. 

Project Related Emphasis: 

The position’s primary focus will be as a Senior Data / Data Associate for the NYS Education Department’s Special Education Technical Assistance Partnership for Data (Data TAP), a professional development initiative.  The Data TAP will work with other Technical Assistance Partnerships to support 12 Regional Partnership Centers as well as Family and Community Engagement Centers (FACE Centers, early childhood and school age).  This role will develop curriculum and materials, train, and provide technical assistance supporting content specialists on the Office of Special Education Educational Partnership regional teams.

  • Advanced degree (Master's, Doctorate, or law degree) in in evaluation, special education, general education, vocational rehabilitation, psychology, disability studies, adult education, or other related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience working in K-12 education settings with educators
  • Demonstrated relevant professional leadership and network development at the state, regional, national, and/or international areas in relevant professional, trade, policy, or public networks.
  • Minimum of two to four years conducting research, training, coursework, organizational development support, and system level interventions to regional, state, or national networks
  • Minimum of one to three years of experience providing information dissemination through the use of in-person, print, and electronic mediums.
  • Demonstrated writing ability and scholarly record in the thematic content area (articles in peer-reviewed journals, articles in trade publications, research and project reports, informational brochures, policy briefs, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams and mentoring, coaching, and supervising academic and/or research personnel and graduate students.
  • One to three years of successful grant writing and grant management experience
  • Frequent travel required.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and leading research/evaluation projects.  Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams, providing creative and critical independent thinking while also considering diverse opinions and approaches.
  • Significant experience and demonstrated competency in diverse qualitative and quantitative research methodology.
  • Proven ability to use and learn different software packages and web-based tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in evaluation, special education or education-related field.
  • Minimum of three years demonstrated experience in large project management (e.g. several staff and budgets exceeding $500,000).
  • Professional credentials in disciplinary area, such as appropriate state and national licensure, certifications, etc.
  • Minimum two years demonstrated experience in successful grant writing and grant management.
  • Minimum three years of experience with distance learning.
  • Three or more years of experience working in K-12 special education or general education.

This is a full-time, non-tenure track academic benefits eligible term opportunity located in Ithaca, NY.
