Berkeley Lab’s Physics Division has an opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on instrumentation for experimental Cosmic Microwave Background experiment and application of superconducting detectors and readout for HEP experiments under the leadership of the group leader.


What You Will Do:

  • Work on instrumentation for Cosmic Microwave Background experiment with involvement in the design, fabrication, characterization, and analysis of the instrument.

  • Work on development of superconducting sensors and readout electronics for HEP experiment applications.

  • Conduct original research independently and in collaboration.

  • Interact with LBNL and other investigators working on similar or related scientific problems.

  • Prepare research papers for publication.

  • Present research findings at seminars and conferences.


What is Required: 

  • Ph.D. in Physics with less than 2 years of experience since Ph.D. thesis.

  • Experience in instrumentation.

  • Demonstrated ability attain high levels of achievement as an independent researcher.

  • Ability to work as a team member to accomplish goals.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Notes:

  • This is a full time, M-F, exempt from overtime pay (monthly paid), 2 year postdoctoral appointment with the possibility of renewal based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds and ongoing operational needs. You must have less than 3 years of paid postdoctoral experience. Salary for Postdoctoral positions depends on years of experience post-degree.

  • This position is represented by a union for collective bargaining purposes.

  • Salary will be predetermined based on postdoctoral step rates.
